As much as we love to set up lights, cameras and yell “Action!”, we equally love meeting the amazing characters that pop up in front of us. The greater the joy when we actually find them and their stories inspirational to us beyond the project at hand.
Our latest opportunity with H&F Circles was forged in partnership with Hammersmith & Fulham Council to produce a short film explaining the benefits of shopping local and shopping safe.
In broad strokes, this project enabled us to dive deep into the world of local businesses who circled the money back into their own community, keeping it alive and thriving. But filming and putting this video together also gave us a great opportunity to venture around the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, take notes, and draw up all the buildings and businesses featured in the video and put all of them on a map. Literally. Ranno does love a good map and apparently doesn’t mind illustrating one from scratch!
This exercise really made us rediscover how diverse and vibrant the borough is both architecturally and community wise. And made us realize how much the people and businesses in a borough can shape it. London is not only one big untameable blob, but an ecosystem of small thriving communities.

Even though this specific video tells a story of how shopping local benefits one area, we think that the message is quite universal and can be applied wherever you may be.
